Superman's primary powers are flight, enhanced-strength, super-speed, superhuman stamina, heat-vision and cold-breath, which enable him to blow out air at freezing temperatures, as well as exert the propulsive force of high-speed winds.
His secondary abilities include super-senses, invulnerability, longevity, an eidetic memory and X-ray vision, which allow the Man of Steel to see through almost everything.
Superman's entire body is also protected by electromagnetic aura.
Among Superman's extraordinary powers and abilities, the greatest may be his compassion for the world that has adopted him.

History: Rocketed to Earth from the doomed planet Krypton, the infant Kal-el landed on Earth near the town of Smallville, Kansas, where he was raised by Jonathan and Martha Kent, the couple who had found his crashed rocketship. Naming him Clark and raising him as their own, the Kent’s invested their adaptive son with a strong sense of compassion and moral responsibility that would someday benefit the entire world.

As Clark matured Earth's gravity (lighter than that of Krypton) and the rays of its yellow sun granted him powers far beyond those of normal men, powers he explored during an around-the-world journey in search of clues to his origins. Afterwards, he fashioned a costume based on his knowledge of Kryptonian heritage and settled in the city of Metropolis.

Hiding his true identity underneath an unassuming demeanor, Clark landed a job as a staff reporter at The Daily Planet newspaper. His role as journalist alerted him to emergencies around the city and introduced him to Lois Lane, the city's star reporter. Lois and Clark began as rivals and later became partners, but it was only after Clark revealed his secret identity to Lois that the two were finally married.

After adopting the name given to him early in career by his wife, "Superman" has spent many years fighting for truth and justice, however, as of late, The Man of Steel's fate has put him on a strange and unfamiliar path.

After freeing the bottled city of Kandor from the clutches of Brainiac and enlarging its citizens to normal size, Superman watched as the Kryptonians who formed that community created a planet for themselves on the other side of the sun, freed General Zod from the Phantom Zone, and proclaimed him as their hero by reinstating him as the head of their military.

The citizens of "New Krypton" offered Superman the chance of a life on their world but only on the condition that he renounce everything and everyone on Earth. Kal-el chose to pretend he had done just that, so he could keep watch on Krypon and prevent it from falling under the domination of General Zod.
