History: Alexander Luthor stated life in Metropolis "Suicide Slum." Born a prodigy, his parents' tried to exploit his gifts, until they died in a car crash (for which Lex may have been responsible).

Lex used his parents' sizeable life insurance award to hire an actor to play his "father", Lionel. The pair moved to Smallville, where Clark Kent was one of Lex's only friends. But after an experiment of Luthor's want awry, Lex broke off all ties to Clark and Smallville, vowing never to discuss them again.

Returning to Metropolis, Luthor mastered scientific and corporate worlds alike as the founder of LexCorp. Deep-seated feelings of alienation drove him concoct diabolical plans to increase his influence; plans that changed with the arrival of Superman.

After years spent of experimentation of Krypton, a seemingly mad Luthor donned a LexCorp warsuit and attacked Superman several times.

Sometime later Luthor decided to turn to politics and become President of the United States by winning the election on a platform of promoting technological progress. His first action as president was to take a proposed moratorium on fossil-based fuels to the U.S. Congress. Dogged by both political scandal and his criminal exploits, Luthor was forced to abandon his Presidency.

During the formation of New Krypton Luthor was imprisoned for his past history of crimes, but rather than going to jail General Lane had him serve out his sentence by accessing the knowledge stored within Brainiac's mind. After his success with Brainiac, Luthor was given the seemingly dead body of Doomsday to study as it had “potential”.

Shortly thereafter, General Zod lead an attack to concur planet Earth and Luthor's expertise with Kryptonians was used to mount a defense. His plan proved to be very successful in stopping the attack, but his actions indirectly caused the destruction of New Krypton and the deaths of thousands of Kryptonians on the surface. For his efforts during this "crisis", Luthor received a presidential pardon for all of his past crimes.
